Atomic Energy Junior College, Mumbai, is managed by Atomic Energy Education Society,
Mumbai, is an autonomous Body under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
AEES is governed by a Governing Council consisting of members of the Department of Atomic Energy.
Right from its inception in the year 1971, under the aegis of AEES, as a Senior Secondary school
which was affiliated to CBSE, which was later converted to a Junior College in the year 1976
getting Maharashtra State Board affiliation in the year 1980, this prestigious institution has
always been the favourite haunt for +2 level DAE as well as Non-DAE, Science as well as Commerce
and vocational as well as non-vocational category students, has always emerged with flying colours
out of the tough competitions, has produced and will produce more industrious students who brought
and will further bring name, fame and astronomical heights for the College in the fields of sports,
CCA, Academics, National level Entrance tests (including IIT, AIEEE, Law & Medical Institutes) etc.
Infrastructure of the College provides the best facilities for catering to the needs of the students
in the form of well equipped three separate laboratories each for the subjects Physics, Chemistry and two for
Biology for FYJC & SYJC students respectively, spacious class rooms, Audio/Visual Room, Conference Room,
Assembly place, IT Lab, CCA room, AEJC Hall, Sports room, Gym, Music room etc. With the introduction of
vocational streams viz. Electrical Maintenance, Computer Science & Electronics in the year 1983,
additional classrooms and laboratories were constructed in the year 1985, and the new library
(and its hall), which holds 25400 books on different subjects and streams along with monthly magazines,
arranged systematically in beautifully glass covered separate shelves and cupboards, for the
students as well as teachers, was constructed in the year 1997.
With its sole aim of imparting all-round education to a strength of about 800 students, the college
is marching forward by keeping abreast with the fast changing needs of the students. The college
is smoothly manned by a team of one Principal, one Vice-Principal, 33 Post Graduate teachers,
4 Trained Graduate Teachers, 1 Librarian, 8 Lab./Lib. assistants, 2 Office staff and 2 Group-D staff.
The total staff strength is Fifty two. The team has always been led by dynamic Principals
and Vice Principals right from the inception of college and the team members have been marching
forward continually by mutual understanding, co-operation and the best of their efforts at every level.
The academic session starts on the first of April every year and ends on the 31st March
of the following year. The medium of instruction is English only. Marathi (language subject )
is optional for those students who don’t wish to opt for Hindi (language) subject.
In nutshell, AEJC Mumbai is a platform on which students as well as teachers learn and get
involved in constructive enterprises to cause alchemy for all the participants.
